Charted since the first upward glance

The Lunar Registry

Silver silence beneath a black sky

The Lunar Registry keeps the quietest archive of all. Its records are engraved on plates of anodised silver and stored in vaults where the only sound is the archivists' breathing.

Humanity has charted the Moon since the first upward glance, but the Registry predates every map. Its founding archivists claim the craters were numbered before they were made — a filing system awaiting its contents.

Four holdings dominate the Near Side Archive. The Sea of Tranquility, where history landed; the Tycho Highlands, rayed in white across a quarter of the disc; the Silver Basin, mirror-flat and mirror-bright; and the Terminator Line estates, half in daylight, half in night, prized for the view of both.

Every certificate is issued with the parcel's Earthrise azimuth. The Tranquility Office notes, with characteristic restraint, that the view is acceptable.
